Elsa Community Guidelines

TL;DR

• Be real. Be respectful. Be safe.
• No harassment, hate, threats, or harm.
• No minors. No nudity. No solicitation.
• Don't share other people's location, photos, or info without their consent.
• If something feels off, report it. We act fast.

1. Who Can Use Elsa

• You must be 17 or older to use Elsa.
• One account per person. No bots, no duplicate accounts, no impersonation.
• Use your real first name and a recognizable, recent photo of yourself — no one else, no cartoons, no logos, no group photos where you can't be identified.
• Don't share your account or let anyone else use it.
• If you've been banned from Elsa, you may not create a new account.

2. What's Not Allowed

The categories below are not exhaustive. If something is clearly designed to harm, deceive, or exploit other people, it's not welcome on Elsa.

Harassment and abuse

• Threats, intimidation, stalking, or unwanted contact.
• Sexual harassment, including unsolicited sexual messages, photos, or comments.
• Doxxing — sharing someone's location, contact information, workplace, or other identifying details without their consent.
• Continuing to pursue someone after they've blocked you, declined a plan, or said they're not interested.

Hate

• Slurs, dehumanizing language, or content attacking people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or serious disease.
• Hate symbols, imagery, or coded references.
• Organized harassment or coordinated targeting of any individual or group.

Violence and dangerous behavior

• Threats of violence against anyone.
• Glorifying or promoting violence, terrorism, or extremist groups.
• Content encouraging self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or other dangerous behavior.
• Content that puts others at physical risk.

Sexual content and solicitation

• Nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit content in profiles, photos, or messages.
• Sex work, escort advertising, or transactional sexual solicitation.
• Sexual content involving anyone who appears to be a minor — always, regardless of any claimed age. This is reported to authorities.

Minors

• Anyone under 17 is not permitted on Elsa.
• Don't invite minors to plans, send messages to people who appear to be minors, or post photos of identifiable minors.
• Suspected child sexual exploitation is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement, and the account is permanently banned.

Illegal activity

• No sale, distribution, or coordination of illegal drugs, weapons, or controlled substances.
• No fraud, scams, phishing, romance schemes, or financial exploitation.
• No human trafficking, smuggling, or coordination of any criminal activity.
• Don't use Elsa to organize anything that is illegal where it's happening.

Privacy violations

• Don't post photos or videos of identifiable people without their permission.
• Don't share another person's location, plans, RSVPs, or movements outside the app.
• Don't take screenshots of private conversations and share them elsewhere with the intent to harm or embarrass.
• Don't scrape, collect, store, or redistribute information about Elsa users.

Impersonation and deception

• Don't claim to be someone you're not — including a real person, a public figure, or a fictional persona.
• Don't use someone else's name, photo, or identity.
• Don't catfish, run romance scams, or misrepresent who you are to gain trust.

Spam and platform abuse

• No bulk messaging, mass plan invites, or commercial promotion of products, services, or other platforms.
• No links to malware, phishing pages, or unverified payment requests.
• Don't sell, rent, or transfer your Elsa account.
• Don't reverse-engineer Elsa, interfere with its operation, or use unofficial clients, bots, or scrapers.

3. Real-World Safety

Elsa helps you make plans in the real world. Some plans go great. Some don't. A few things to keep in mind:

• You are responsible for your own safety when meeting people. Tell a friend where you'll be.
• Meet in public places, especially the first time you're meeting someone new.
• Drink responsibly. Watch out for your friends. If something feels wrong, leave.
• Elsa does not conduct background checks on users. A profile is not a guarantee about who someone is.
• If you witness or experience something dangerous, call local emergency services first (911 in the U.S.), then report it to us.

4. Reporting

If you see something that violates these guidelines, report it. We need reports to keep Elsa safe.

• In the app:tap the user's profile, plan, or message -> Report. Choose the reason that fits.
• By email: safety@whereiselsa.com. Include screenshots and the username if you have them.
• Emergencies: call 911 (U.S.) or your local emergency number first, then report to us.

Response times. We review every report. We aim to give a first response within 24 hours and to resolve standard reports within 7 days. Reports involving imminent danger, threats of violence, or child safety are prioritized and acted on as quickly as possible — typically within hours.

Confidentiality.We don't share the identity of the person who submitted a report with the person being reported, except where required by law or to protect someone's safety.

Outcomes.Once a report is resolved, we'll let you know what action was taken when we can.

5. Blocking

You can block any user from their profile or from Elsa Settings. When you block someone:

• They can no longer see your profile, plans, or location.
• They cannot message you or invite you to plans.
• They won't appear in your friend suggestions, mutual plans, or map.

Blocking is private — we don't tell the other person.

To unblock someone: Settings -> Privacy -> Blocked Users.

6. Enforcement

When content or behavior violates these guidelines, we may take one or more of the following actions, depending on the severity and history:

• Remove the content.
• Issue a warning.
• Restrict features (messaging, plan creation, location sharing, etc.).
• Suspend the account temporarily.
• Permanently ban the account.
• Report to law enforcement, where appropriate or required by law.

Immediate permanent bans. Some violations result in immediate, permanent removal with no warning. These include:

• Threats of violence.
• Sexual content involving minors.
• Doxxing or coordinated harassment.
• Sale or distribution of illegal drugs or weapons.
• Fraud or scams targeting other users.
• Operating an account to evade a previous ban.

We may also ban accounts associated with banned users — including those linked by device, phone number, or payment method — to prevent ban evasion.

How we enforce. Enforcement uses a combination of automated systems and human review. Automated systems are not perfect.

Appeals. If you believe your account was actioned in error, email appeals@whereiselsa.com within 30 days. Include your username and what you'd like us to reconsider. A team member who wasn't involved in the original decision will review it.

7. Content You Post

You keep ownership of the content you post on Elsa (your photos, plan descriptions, messages, etc.). By posting it, you give Elsa a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to run the app - including pushing it to the friends and people on plans you've shared it with.

You're responsible for making sure you have the right to share anything you post, including photos of other people.

We may remove content that violates these guidelines or the law without notice.

8. Reporting Illegal Content

If you believe content on Elsa is illegal in your jurisdiction - for example, it infringes copyright, defames someone, or otherwise breaks the law - email hello@whereiselsa.com with:

• A description of the content and where it is on Elsa.
• Why you believe it's illegal.
• Your contact information.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information you've provided is accurate.

For copyright issues specifically, we follow the DMCA notice-and-takedown process.

9. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these guidelines as Elsa grows and as new patterns of misuse appear. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
